Astrologically, April 2022 is a journey over the river and through the woods, winding backwards and climbing upwards and repelling down waterfalls to get to our destination. What that destination is will be different for each of us. But hold the goal in mind so you don’t lose the rope that’s tying you to the earth. There is a very real risk of being flung off into the energetic ethers, lost and alone.
A part of that risk is the bungee jumping from extreme highs to extreme lows, or even experiencing both at once on any given day. We’ll dive into the specifics below. April's Astrological Topography
This month has a conflicting set of energies, causing the ripcord from high to low you can see above.
On the one hand, we’ll be feeling a massive expansion of love, imagination, creativity, and the power of truth spoken through a global microphone. There is a feeling of escapism, of fantasy on the day-to-day level, and of dreams in reach…but also delusions as a choice we make to live our lives without guilt or change.
On the other hand, changes are coming, shake-ups are certain, and boundaries loom in a way not seen since the start of the pandemic in March 2020. There’s an anger and hardness to certain parts of this month that will be hard to ignore. Or that we ignore at our own risk.
Below is a closer look at the planet-by-planet movements. Jupiter and Venus do their best to help us out, with some boosts from Neptune, and the aid of a happy Sun in Aries for the first two thirds of the month. Mars and Saturn bring particularly harsh energy in early April, and powerful Pluto will be stimulated on and off this month in ways both helpful and dark.

4/4 - 4/6: Mars, the planet of war and anger, will be conjunct Saturn, the planet of boundaries and restrictions, in Aquarius, the sign of systems and communities. The last time these planets met up in this sign was March 2020, the very start of the global pandemic. This is a moment in time to be wary of and prepare for. Note how tensions on a micro and macro level may be increasing, and how that impacts you and your world. Don’t be reactionary. Don’t point fingers. Just hold the line and protect yourself.
4/18 - 4/19: The Sun will be Square Pluto on these two dates, forcing us to confront our relationship to power in some personal way. This feels like a challenge that hits close to home. The Moon will also be in Scorpio on 4/18, where it feels moody and deep, adding to a sense of melodrama and emotionality.
4/24: This day just feels very confusing to me. On the one hand, we’ve got conflict and arguments, and on the other hand we have dreams that feel nearly real. There may be a sense of miscommunication, misunderstanding, or even deliberate manipulation happening today. Watch your words. And watch the airwaves.
4 Reasons to Thank the Stars This Month
We’ve got two new moons in one month! On April 1st, we have a New Moon in Aries, planting a seed in the first season of the astrological year. This is a beautiful time to commit to courage, or to a courageous act/project of some kind. Then, on April 30th, we have a New Moon in Taurus, which brings with it a more material, grounded new beginning. This may be a more literal goal, project, or purchase you’re committing to working toward.
The Sun is in Aries for most of the month! The Sun feels seen and appreciated in Aries, passing along those good vibes to all of us in a specific part of our lives. Notice where you’re being noticed! The sun’s gaze will shift focus on 4/19, and get down to more practical matters. So enjoy this vibe while it lasts.
The peak of this month is Jupiter Conjunct Neptune in Pisces which will be felt from 4/7 - 4/16, but exact on 4/12. Both are at home in Pisces’ watery depths, and this conjunction feels like a huge burst of powerful imagination and creativity. You may feel generative, inspired, and immensely passionate during this week or so! They’ll also get a little boost from Venus, the planet of love, sharing the house of Pisces with them for this small stretch. Give hugs freely!
At the very end of the month (4/30), Venus will be conjunct Jupiter on the same day as the New Moon in Taurus! This feels like a beautiful omen for welcoming steady and healthy love into your life. And it’s given depth by Jupiter’s sextile to Pluto RX, acting as a powerful moment of introspection into all we’ve learned since Jupiter entered Pisces in December of 2021.
